Parliputra Nagri Patna

Pataliputra city which is known as Patna.  According to the Pataliputra city historian Megasthenes, during the Maurya Empire it was one of the first cities in the world to have a highly efficient form of local self-government.  Later, Sher Shah Suri revived Pataliputra.

 Extensive archaeological excavations have been carried out in the vicinity of modern Patna.  Excavations around Patna in the early 20th century yielded clear evidence of large fortification walls.  Pataliputra was also known as Kusumpur (City of Flowers).
